Rev. Donald Jordan & Family

Rev. Donald A. Jordan was born on January 2, 1957 in Los Angeles, California to Eugene and Lena Jordan, the oldest of four children. He was baptized into the Christian faith on February 10, 1957 at Florence Avenue Presbyterian Church, Los Angeles. He was confirmed in 1973 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hawthorne, California. He has three sisters, Linda, Nancy, and Heidi, living with their families in California, Oregon, and Florida. His father, Eugene Jordan, received the crown of eternal life in 2001 after a lengthy illness and 9 years of devoted care by his mother, Lena. Pastor Jordan graduated from Leuzinger High School, Lawndale, California in 1975. In 1979, he graduated from California Lutheran College, Thousand Oaks, California, earning a B.A. degree. Following graduation, he enrolled in Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. His year of vicarage was spent at Peace Lutheran Church, Arvada, Colorado, under the supervision of Rev. Daniel Hauschild. In May 1983, he received his Master of Divinity degree from the seminary. He was ordained into the office of the Holy Ministry on June 12, 1983 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Inglewood, California, by Rev. E.W. Dierker. His first call was to First Lutheran Church, Blytheville, Arkansas, where he served from 1983 to 1986. His second call was to Rollingwood Lutheran Church, San Pablo, California, where he served from 1986 to 2005. From 1985 to 1994, he served as a chaplain in the U.S Navy Reserve. He served as chaplain of the Albany Police Dept. from 1993 to 2005.

Lori Ann Meyer, daughter of Jack and Brenda Meyer of Southern California, became his bride on July 13, 1985 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Inglewood, California. She holds a degree from St. John’s College, Winfield, Kansas and has worked as a parish worker and court reporter. Her mother, Brenda Meyer, received the crown of eternal life in 1998 after a brief illness. The Lord has blessed their marriage with four children: Karl Andrew, born on April 6, 1989; Kurt Thomas, born on May 29, 1991; Lianna Marie, born on March 22, 1994; and Monica Ann, born on June 3, 1997. The Lord builds His Church through the Word and the Holy Sacraments. A pastor is a gift of God to a congregation to use in the work of God’s kingdom. All pastors are but earthen vessels to be used by God to bring living water to a thirsty world. May this vessel and God’s holy people of Redeemer Lutheran Church be a blessing to all who need the forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and salvation found only in Jesus Christ.
